Seeking new approaches to foster pro-social behaviors among children? Books can offer just the right tool for helping children develop not only early literacy skills but social and emotional health. The exploration begun in our Peaceable Stories training (offered since 2007) will be continued as we discuss empathy, emotional literacy, conflict and what peace means. This six-session hybrid training offers the opportunity for digging deeper with readings and discussion in three sessions online and three sessions in person. Online components include writing reflections and sharing ideas; homework will include using books and activities in your classroom. Previous attendance at Peaceable Stories training ideal but not required. Children’s books will be provided.
CEUs will be available.
Please bring a $13 check made out to USM.
Join us on May 6, 2011 at Wells Reserve at Laudholm in Wells to explore the
enduring impact of Rachel Carson’s work on the modern environmental movement.
